S&P 500, Nasdaq Composite hit new record high

Both indices had already opened on all-day intraday highlights, after a better-than-expected work report boosted investor sentiment early Friday.
S&P ( SPX ) closed almost 1% at 3,067 points, registering its third record during the week. Nasdaq ( COMP ) completed 1.1% higher at 8,386 points and exceeded the height in July.
While Dow ( INDU ) also rallied, ending just 1[ads1]2 points below the Christmas record. The index closed up 301 points, or 1.1%.

"Solid October labor data shows that the engine of the US economy is buzzing despite increased global uncertainty, a good sign of future growth as improved employment conditions fuel consumer spending and confidence," said Ryan Detrick, senior market strategist for LPL Financial.

All three indexes ended the week in green. For S&P, it was the fourth straight week of gains, while it was the fifth for Nasdaq.

Investors drew on a new round of weak production data from the Institute of Supply Management, which showed the third monthly contraction in a row.
