The world's largest online store event happens on Monday – bigger than Black Friday or Cyber Monday – but few on this side of the planet have heard of it.
It is "11/11", also known as "Singles' Day" or "Double 11", a 24-hour shopping frenzy hosted by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba.
More than 200,000 brands participate , and offers deep discounts to an estimated 500,000 million buyers. Last year, an estimated 1 billion packages were shipped as a result of "Singles Day" purchases, according to Reuters.
The event is so big, Alibaba launches it with a live stream gala that Taylor Swift will headline this year.
The event started in 2009 with just 27 brands offering discounts.
