The world's largest online store event happens on Monday – bigger than Black Friday or Cyber Monday – but few on this side of the planet have heard of it.
It is "11/11", also known as "Singles' Day" or "Double 11", a 24-hour shopping frenzy hosted by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba.
More than 200,000 brands participate , and offers deep discounts to an estimated 500,000 million buyers. Last year, an estimated 1 billion packages were shipped as a result of "Singles Day" purchases, according to Reuters.
The event is so big, Alibaba launches it with a live stream gala that Taylor Swift will headline this year.
The event started in 2009 with just 27 brands offering discounts.
The Alibaba platform, the most popular on Singles Day products, is clothing and daily necessities, such as skincare, health and baby products.
Other Chinese companies offer singles day deals, including Pinduoduo – the country's third largest e-commerce platform . With Post Wires
