Showtime not going ahead with ‘Three Women’, cancels ‘Let The Right One In’ & American Gigolo’ – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Global just announced that Showtime will be integrated into Paramount+ across both streaming and linear later this year. In preparation for the move, the premium cable network, which will be renamed Paramount+ with Showtime, had been overhauling its programming slate in recent weeks under its new chief executive Chris McCarthy.

As a result, Showtime will not continue with new series Three women, starring Shailene Woodley, Betty Gilpin, DeWanda Wise and Gabrielle Creevy, which has been completed. The drama has been quietly shopped around by the producers, and I hear there has been interest, with at least one offer on the table.

In addition, Showtime has chosen not to pick up season 2 of two first-year drama series: Drop the correct one instarring Demián Bichir, and American Gigolo, headlined by Jon Bernthal. The former, inspired by the best-selling 2004 novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist and its 2008 Swedish film adaptation, has also been shopped to other platforms by Tomorrow Studios. (I hear all titles have been removed from the Showtime platform as part of the restructuring will be available to take elsewhere.)

This marks the last submission Drop the correct one inhis long journey. The series was originally set up at A&E and A+E Studios in 201[ads1]5 and then moved to TNT, where a pilot was ordered and cast but did not go into production. The series eventually found its way to Showtime, where it aired.

This is probably the end of the road american Gigolo, which had been plagued by problems during production, including a fraud investigation and a showrunner change, ultimately producing an eight-episode season out of a 10-episode original order.

Taking a write-off on completed seasons of TV shows or movies has become a preferred MO for media companies over the past year. The strategy has been used aggressively by Warner Bros. Discovery, with others, notably AMC, joining in.

IN Three women, adapted by Taddeo based on the nonfiction bestseller by Lisa Taddeo, a group of women are on a crash course to radically turn their lives around. The series is executive produced by Taddeo, showrunner Laura Eason, Kathy Ciric and Emmy Rossum. Louise Friedberg directed and produced the first two episodes.

Showtime has other high-profile upcoming scripted series, including Ripley and King Shaka, which is in post production.

On the renewal front, there has not yet been any decision on the future of Be them and I love it for you. I hear that the former has informally sent out feelers to the market, while the latter has written a second season.

Vampire drama series Let it be fixed IN comes from Gone creator Andrew Hinderaker, Seith Mann and Tomorrow Studios. Described as an exploration of human frailty, strength and compassion through an elevated genre lens. it centers on Mark, played by Demián Bichir, and his daughter Eleanor (Madison Taylor Baez), whose life was changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire.

American Gigolo, a contemporary reimagining of the iconic 1980 film, follows post-wrongfully convicted Julian Kaye (Bernthal) released from 15 years in prison as he navigates his complicated relationships with his ex-girlfriend Michelle (Gretchen Mol), his troubled mother and people who betrayed him. The project is a production of Paramount Television Studios.
