Shares missing out on disappointing retail


U.S. stocks broke record pace Tuesday after a round of weak retail earnings reports.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 108 points, or 0.4%, to 27946. The S&P 500 fell 0.1%, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.3%. All three indices closed on Monday.
