Several people were injured after a vehicle crashed into a New England Subway sandwich shop Wednesday afternoon. The accident happened at the Subway at the Apple Valley Mall on Putnam Pike in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Smithfield, Rhode Island, Deputy Fire Chief Steven Quattrini told WPRI that first responders found the car completely inside the restaurant. Quattrini told WPRI that at least six people were injured in the crash, two of whom were pinned under the vehicle. Four were seriously injured. Both workers and customers were among the injured. The cause of the accident is currently unknown. However, Quattrini said it appears the man behind the wheel was speeding through the parking lot.
