MILWAUKEE (WITI) – Several employees of a Milwaukee Popeye's restaurant lost their job after a wild brawl was caught on camera Wednesday, WITI reports.
Mobile phone video from the fast food eatery shows the fight breaking out while customers were still inside. The violent encounter happened at Popeye's near 76th and Good Hope Road around 9:30 pm
Richard Fourté told WITI that he wanted to avoid driving through the evening that night, so he walked in.
"I said to myself, I said, & # 39; Wow, there are many who work here, & # 39;" said Fourté.
Fourté said he could feel the tension increase and grabbed his cellphone to start recording. Quietly turned quickly to chaos inside the restaurant.
"I heard one of them shout, & # 39; It's a fight, & # 39;" said Fourté. "They ran at the back of the grills, OK. Well, there was a fight back there. I didn't get it on tape."
Moments later, a violent fight broke out near him with several employees throwing punches.
Soon the situation cooled down – and Fourté left empty-handed.
"Honestly, I wasn't even going to get the chicken sandwich," Fourté said.
When police arrived on the scene, they determined that no weapons were involved – and no arrests were made. It is unclear what triggered the switch.
Statement from Popeye's franchisee
“This was an unfortunate, isolated incident that we take very seriously. The dining room was closed just after the reschedule at 09:30. As a result, 7 employees were laid off from the company, including the manager on duty, "said John Brodersen.
