Sensex closes 317 points higher, Nifty Reclaims 10.750: 10 things to know
Stock markets started the week with a strong note, with S & P BSE Sensex closing 31[ads1]7 points or 0.9 percent higher on 35,774 on Monday. NSE reference index Nifty50 advanced 81 points to settle for 10,763. Both indexes achieved their best final level since 3 October. Gains in FMCG, auto, metal, information technology and pharma shares pushed home markets higher despite a mixed trend in Asian peers. Upmove in Sensex and Nifty came on a day as the Reserve Bank of India board met with the government to discuss more issues related to liquidity, bank lending rules and surrender of surplus reserves.
