Seattle man builds fence around illegally parked car-part vehicle on property; requires payment

A property manager in Seattle upset about a car vehicle parked illegally in the parking lot of his duplex, having erected a barricade around it and demanding compensation from the owner.

Dan Smith said car2go Mercedes-Benz has been parked in his lot since May 17, reported KIRO TV. He said he gave Share Now, the company that runs car2go, two hours to collect the vehicle. After no answer he built a makeshift fence around it.

The company told the news station several customers were trying to rent the vehicle on May 18 and could not access it because the barricade was already set up. Smith requires the company to pay $ 65 per day for vehicle storage fee, $ 300 for the barricade and $ 500 for "harassment fees."

In a statement to Fox News, now part spokesman tim crab said the company has "made repeated attempts to work with Mr Smith and have our vehicles removed from the property." It added that Smith "rejected this bet and has blocked Share Now and its members from accessing the vehicle."

"We will not allow anyone to deal with ulterior motives, including anyone trying to push out our business by keeping the property illegal to prevent us from delivering transportation to residents of Seattle," the company said. Taking legal steps and hoping for a quick resolution. "

Smith said that renter Assad Rasheed has been cursed by and plagued by car2go customers trying to get the vehicle out of the driveway. He said he was trying to pull it, but several operators went down. A tow operator reportedly said Smith had not written signs warning that the parking lots were on private property and that offenders would be towed.

Smith said he would cooperate if the police said he was wrong. Fox News traveled to the company for further comment, but has not yet received a reply.
