PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) – A flight that led to Seattle returned to Portland International Airport on Tuesday morning after the airline had turned off one of the aircraft's engines.
FOX 12 viewer Clark James shared video of a propeller that did not work properly.
Seattle-based Alaska Airlines says shortly after the start around noon. 10.30, the pilots saw a cautionary light indicating that there was a problem with one of the propeller's speeds.
The crew turned off an engine and turned aircraft around, which is the standard procedure, the airline says.
While rare, Alaska says pilots are trained for single-engine operations.
After returning to Portland, passengers boarded a new aircraft that eventually took them to Seattle.
