Roundup Weed Killer Major Factor in Human Cancer

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – A jury in the federal court in San Francisco has concluded that Roundup grasshopper was a significant factor in a California man.

The unanimous verdict on Tuesday came in a lawsuit that the plaintiffs' lawyers said might help determine the fate of hundreds of similar cases against Roundup's producer, the gigantic Monsanto of the agro-industry. It was the second jury's verdict that found that Roundup caused non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Another jury reached the conclusion last year awarded the plaintiff DeWayne Johnson, $ 289 million.

Tuesday's judgment came in the case of 70 years Edwin Hardeman. The judge who oversees Hardemann's lawsuit had divided the trial into two phases. Hardeman's lawyers first had to convince jury members that his use of Roundup was an important factor in his non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

The experiment will now continue to the injury phase.
