(Bloomberg) – Roku Inc. on Saturday said it will make its smart TV technology available in Europe.
Los Gatos, a US-based company, will allow manufacturers to license reference designs for their TVs and using the Roku OS will make smart TVs for sale in Europe, it said in a statement.
Roku's announcement comes after Amazon.com Inc. announced an expansion of its smart TV offering in Europe this week. Bloomberg reported earlier this week that Amazon is partnering with manufacturers to bring a total of 15 Four TVs to market next year, including JVC-branded TVs for the UK and sets made by Grundig in Germany and Austria.
