Dodge Dart, whom Dodge killed in 201
Fiat Chrysler sent a Dart recall report to the US National Highway Traffic Administration last week, which said it is recalling 298,439 Darts from 2013 to 2016 model year for the potential to roll. The recall includes only Dart with automatic transmissions, since the recall report states that deteriorated transmission cable sockets may allow the shift cable to detach from the transmission.
This means that the shifter could ignore the shift input from the driver and, for example, could roll away even though the shifter is in the "park" position. To fix it in the recall, the FCA will replace the transmission shifter cable bushing in all vehicles and will notify owners about it by May 31st.
Meanwhile, the FCA's report has at least said the true gear position will appear on the instrument cluster and show beside the shifter, and owners can always use the parking brake to ease their mind.
But of course, given the model name, we should always have expected these cars to dart at some point.
