Recall of frozen fruit due to possible Listeria contamination

Sunrise Growers Inc., a subsidiary of SunOpta Inc., has issued a voluntary recall of several frozen fruit products and fruit mixes due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

according to FDA Notice, the following recalled products were distributed at several retailers including grocery chains in North Carolina. See the full list of products and batch numbers on the FDA website.

Aldi: Season̵[ads1]7;s Choice Tropical Blend distributed to select distribution centers or stores in AL, AR, CT, FL, GA, IA, KS, KY, MA, MD, MI, MO, MS, NC, NE, NH, NY, OH, OK, PA , RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT and WV from October 11, 2022 to May 22, 2023

Goal: Good & Sank Organic Cherry & Berry Fruit Blend, Good & Sank Dark Sweet Whole Pitted Cherries, Good & Sank Mango Strawberry Blend, Good & Sank Mixed Fruit Blend, Good & Sank Mango Bites, Good & Sank Blueberry, and Good & Sank Triple Berry The blend is distributed nationwide from 14 October 2022 to 22 May 2023

The recall is related to pineapples supplied by a third-party supplier, according to FDA recall notice.

According to the recall, there have been no illnesses associated with this fruit recall.

“Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.Any consumer concerned about an illness should contact a doctor, the FDA says.

If you have this recalled product in your freezer, do not eat it. Return it to the store for a refund or throw it away.
