"As a child, I was very nervous about being in front of other boys, because I was different, but that didn't stop me from believing in my dreams," Aguilar says studying biotechnology at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in Spain, to Reuters

The teenager, who built his first robot arm out of the plastic stones at age 9, has since created several versions, each of which has an increasing amount of functionality.

"I wanted to … see myself in the mirror as I see other boys, with two hands, "said Aguilar.

He told the news outlet he hopes to someday use t he creations as a way to provide reasonably priced prostheses to others in distress, but noted that he rarely uses the "Iron Man" principle, because he is "self-sufficient without it."
