DETROIT (AP) – Fiat Chrysler recalls more than 182,000 pickup trucks worldwide to fix an electrical problem that can turn off the power steering.
The recall covers the Ram 1500 pickup from the 2019 model year. Most are in the United States and Canada, and one-third are still in dealerships.
The company said Friday a party that justified the battery was not properly secured in production. The connection can become loose, which disables the power steering. The drivers can still control, but it does not require any work.
FCA says it does not have reports of crashes or injuries.
Dealers will secure the attachment equipment free to owners. Fiat Chrysler says it does not have a date for the recall, but under US law it should start within 60 days.
