Ragu pasta sauces recalled over possible plastic fragment concerns

Anyone who may have purchased varieties of a popular branded pasta sauce is encouraged to double-check the label of concern that it may contain plastic fragments.

Mikzan America Inc. announced on Saturday that certain Ragú pasta sauce varieties are subject to a voluntary recall of an "abundance of caution."

"There have been no reports of consumer damage or complaints," the company said in a press release.

The sauces were produced between June 4-8 and distributed nationally, according to the company. Mizkan America said it believes the majority of the production run is "in control", but some of the case was sent to customers.

"Mizkan cooperates with these retail partners to ensure that these Ragú variants with specified case / cap codes are removed from business nationwide," the company said.

Variants of Ragu pasta sauce were during a voluntary recall Over concerns there may be fragments of plastic inside.

The affected sauces include:

• Ragú Old World Style Traditional (66 ounces) with a June 4, 2020 best-by date.
• Ragú Chunky Tomato Garlic and Onion (45 and 66 ounces) with the 5th and 6th June 2020 best-by date.
• Ragú Old World Style Meat (66-ounhce) with a June 5, 2020 update date.

The products included in the recall can be identified with a yellow jar and the best use of dates listed by the company.

"This voluntary recall is limited to the pasta sauces with these specific production codes, which were distributed nationwide," said Mizkan. "No other production codes / dates, sizes or variants of Ragu pasta sauces are affected by this recall."

One of the affected grocery stores Chains said that two of the varieties were sold on their stories.

"Consumers who bought these products are encouraged not to consume them," Publix Super Markets said. "These products must be disposed of or returned to the place of purchase for a refund."

Mizkan said that customers who bought the affected sauces with the cover codes can contact a customer service hotline for a replacement voucher, and having some sauces picked up for further investigation.
