“Prolific” suspected of retail theft arrested; Used self-checkout kiosks to steal from the San Francisco Target Store – CBS San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – A woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of items from a San Francisco Target store using the self-checkout feature and walking away with items after paying a dollar.
District Attorney Chesa Boudin said Aziza Graves was arrested Wednesday for 120 incidents involving thefts worth more than $ 40,000 from the Target Mall at Stonestown Galleria between October 2020 and November 2021. Graves was arrested in the store following an investigation by the DA’s office and police department. .

“I am proud of the office’s management, thorough investigation and coordination across agencies with the San Francisco Police Department,” Boudin said in a prepared statement. “We are committed to stopping those involved in organized retail theft, including by dismantling the fencing networks that make this type of crime profitable.”
“The suspect in this case has been a particularly rude and productive burglar,” Police Chief Bill Scott said in a prepared statement. “We hope this case – like many others with which we cooperate with our local prosecutors – sends a strong message to potential shoplifters that their illegal behavior will not be tolerated in San Francisco.”

According to the DA’s office, in almost all of the alleged incidents at Stonestown Target, Graves used self-checkout kiosks to scan goods and then paid one dollar in cash, or in some cases one cent. Graves would then allegedly leave the kiosk without completing the transactions.
Graves was charged with eight counts of aggravated theft and 120 counts of petty theft.
