Premarket: Here's what you need to know before the clock




The company added 2.7 million new subscribers in the second quarter of 2019, according to the revenue report released on Wednesday. There are just over half of the 5 million new subscribers that analysts were expecting.

Netflix ( NFLX ) shares are set to fall 11% when US markets open.
It's a blow to the company at a time when competition with companies like Disney ( DIS ) and CNN parent AT & T ( T ] is heating.

Both rivals are expected to launch their own streaming services next year, which means that Netflix loses access to some popular performances such as "Friends."

Next up among US tech giants: Microsoft ( MSFT ) which gives results for the three months ending June after US markets close.

2. Trade and earnings: Rising trade tensions are damaging to Europe's most valuable technology company.

German Trading Software Group SAP ( SAP ) said Thursday's second quarter surplus fell 21[ads1]% to $ 827 million ($ 930 million) due to restructuring costs and trade uncertainty.

SAP said revenues from software licenses decreased by 5% due to "trade-related uncertainty in Asia".

Investors had expected better results, and shares in the company fell 7% in Frankfurt despite the group repeating its full-year view.

It is the last company to take a hit from the US / China trade war. Car companies are particularly concerned about tariffs at a time when automatic sales are slow.
