Pier 1 to close a dozen more stores

Pier 1 Import increases the number of stores expected to close this year.

The reseller dealer said it will close 57 stores in the fiscal year, up a dozen from the April estimate of 45 stores.

In April, officials said as many as 145 stores could close as part of a 15% cut.

According to company documents, there are more than 965 stores in the United States and Canada.

On the Central Coast there are Pier 1 places in Paso Robles, Arroyo Grande, Santa Maria and Goleta.

The company has not announced which stores will be closed.
