An employee of Panera Bread spilled the chain's not-so-secret trade secret about its signature mac and cheese on TikTok. But the viral fame may have cost her the job.
In a quick clip filmed behind the counter, TikTok user @ Brianannaraelenee dips a frozen package of Panera & # 39; s white cheddar mac & cheese in hot water, pulls it out and empties the steaming bag into a bowl before serving it.

A spokesperson for Panera told CNN that the company does not comment on personnel matters, but assures that the meals are shipped frozen so that they can exclude certain preservatives that do not meet the company's pure standards.
"Mac and cheese is made off-site with our in-house recipe developed by our chefs and uses our ingredients that meet our standards for our clean menu offerings," the spokesman said.
