OneCoin Ponzi Scam Ringleaders charged in the United States

Following his arrest of authorities at LAX airport, Konstantin Ignatov, head of OneCoin ponzi fraud, now faces. His sister, Ruja, who founded OneCoin, faces several charges of fraud and money laundering – even though it is still large.

OneCoin to rule them all

Ruja Ignatova created OneCoin in Bulgaria in 2014, and it generated $ 3.8 billion in revenue in Q3 2016, according to prosecutors. OneCoin "tokens" rose from $ 50 cents to nearly $ 30 claims – despite the fact that the digital currency had no blockchain, no utility and no way to monitor it.

In classic Ponzi style, a constant cash flow from new investors stood ̵[ads1]1; as existing members received commissions for recruitment. Cryptocurrency media quickly calls OneCoin as an MLM pyramid program, and the government followed in an increasing number of countries.

The project soldier on, and even went as far as announcing a first public offer (IPO) in early 2017. Before this could happen, Ruja Ignatova disappeared from the public eye, with his brother Konstantin, who took the reins in 2018. [19659004] ponzi scheme

Sweet dreams, my LA Ex

Constantine Ignatov's arrest at the Los Angeles International Airport was required to conspire to commit wire fraud. The authorities have also accused Ruja Ignatova of missing out on money laundering and fraud for wire and securities.

Manhattan lawyer Geoffrey Berman said in a statement:

As allegedly, these defendants created a thousand-dollar cryptocurrency company based entirely on lies and betrayals. They promised great returns and minimal risk, but as claimed this business was a pyramid scheme based on smoke and mirrors more than zeros and ones.

New York County District Attorney Cyrus Vance added: "These defenders performed an old school pyramid scheme on a new school platform."

Scams up to the very end

Before he was arrested, Ignatov traveled to the United States to meet OneCoin affiliates. During a meeting in Los Vegas, one asked when members would be able to "throw out" their OneCoins. His reported response was:

If you are here to get money, leave this room now, because you do not understand what this project is about.

It was possibly the most brutally honest advice OneCoin investors ever received. 19659004] If found guilty, Ignatov's mission bears a maximum sentence of twenty years in prison. However, if his sister is trapped, her combined cost may see her spend fifty-five years after rods.
