WASHINGTON (AP) – Federal officials say that a North Carolina-based food processor remembers more than 800 pounds ready to eat frozen andouille sausage that may be contaminated with metal.
Monday, the US Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the San Giuseppe Salami Co. sausages. by Giacomo in Elon was produced May 19th. The department says the products show the establishment number "EST.21556" and were sent to dealers and institutional locations in Greensboro. The varying weights of the vacuum package, individually sealed packages also carry a date of sale November 10, 2019.
The company contacted the USDA service after receiving a report that a consumer found a piece of metal ring in the Product.
There have been no confirmed reports of side effects from consuming the sausage.
