Nike joins Amazon on the list of potential Peloton suitors: report

The sportswear manufacturer Nike is in the early stages of a possible hunt for the exercise bike and treadmill manufacturer Peloton, according to a report.
Nike’s new interest was reported by the Financial Times, which stressed that Nike officials have not yet spoken to their Peloton counterparts.
Earlier, e-commerce giant Amazon was reported to be interested in the Peloton, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Peloton shares jumped 30% during extended trading based on reports, Reuters reported.

Blackwells Capital, an investment company, had urged Peloton̵[ads1]7;s board to pursue a sale, the Reuters report said. But a source told the withdrawal that the board members of the Peloton have not yet made a decision.

The peloton has a market value of around $ 8 billion, well down from around $ 50 billion about a year ago, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The training bike manufacturer suffered a couple of setbacks in PR in recent weeks when two TV series – “And Just Like That” and “Billions” – featured characters who had a heart attack after using Peloton bikes.
