RALEIGH, NC (AP) – North Carolina income taxpayers will receive more generous returns on the return soon, but may pay more upfront tax on online purchases in a measure Democratic Secretary of State Roy Cooper has enacted.
Koper's signing statement came several hours after he vetoed another bill that would have reduced corporate tax.
The Republican-penned measure signed on Friday raises the standard deduction, meaning the filing income tax does not pay tax, from $ 750 to $ 1500 starting in 2020. For a single player, the deduction will now be $ 10,750 .
The new law also requires companies such as Amazon to collect VAT on consumers who purchase products they offer through third-party retailers. It is designed to collect more fees from foreign retailers given a new US Supreme Court decision.
