More than 7k Blue Cross Blue Shield members affected by bank failures

CHEYENNE, WYO. (KGWN) A place between 7,000 and 7,500 Blue Cross Blue Shield from Wyoming members has been overloaded due to an error by the American National Bank.

According to Wendy Curran, Vice President of Treating Delivery and Supplier Relationships with Wyoming's Blue Cross Blue Shield, the American Banking Bank in Cheyenne, and a banking system, some prizes ran up to four times, which means that monthly premiums were charged four times for some members.

"This could not have happened in a worse time," Curran said. "With holidays around the corner, we're definitely aware of how serious this is."

Curran said that ANB has already taken steps to correct the situation and members affected by the error should begin to receive a message that the problem was corrected on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Curran said that ANB also undertook to take over pressure charges and / or other charges that could be charged to Blue Cross Blue Shield members as a result of the error.

A Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming release is below:

CHEYENNE, WYO ̵[ads1]1; Some Blue Cross Blue Shields from Wyoming members may have been affected by a bankruptcy error that resulted in duplicate withdrawals from members' bank accounts for automatic premium payments. ANB Bank in Cheyenne mistakenly repeated several times a single batch file of members' monthly premium payments to Blue Cross Blue Shield. Less than 10 percent of BCBSWY members have been affected by this error.

ANB Bank has taken full responsibility and has acted quickly to reverse and credit members' accounts for incorrect duplicate charges. The bank expects that the affected accounts will show the corrections as soon as today, subject to procedures from single banks.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming recognizes the financial impact this has on our members and works diligently with ANB Bank to ensure that all affected members will be refunded any overdue fees or fees resulting from this error.

Members are aware that if their account does not reflect this correction on the morning of December 5, please contact BCBSWY or call ANB Bank at 307-634-2121.
