More than 53,000 school buses remembered it, but no one knows exactly which
More than 53,000 school buses have been recalled across the country due to a security problem. Some of the recalled buses are believed to be in the Cincinnati area, but no one knows exactly which buses are affected. Daimler Trucks North America remembers certain Thomas Built school buses with production dates between 2014 and 2020. According to the recall, the seats on the buses "may not provide adequate shock absorption in certain specific areas around the backrest steel chair frame." While many local districts own Thomas buses, the recall is so specific, no one knows exactly which buses are on the list. Daimler said it plans to send out a list of vehicle identification numbers in December. "If they know they have been recalled, I am not sure there is no computer system or data logistics day and day that they would not be able to get the exact pilot numbers and VIN numbers for that time," he said one of the parents. The recall is due to a problem in seat upholstery, not the type of sitting, but the type of safety. Since school buses do not have seat belts, padding on the seat frame is essential for safety in the event of a shock. Some Thomas models do not have enough padding. "This is the only security measure they have in place," Brady Bonner said. His daughter is too young to ride the bus, but he said if she was old enough, he wouldn't put her on a bus until he knew the problem was resolved. Forest Hills has two Thomas buses and they are taken out of service until they have been fixed. Lebanon has eight Thomas buses and Mason has five. Both districts are leaving their buses in service. Daimler Trucks said some of the buses have been on the road since 201[ads1]4 and that there have been no injuries related to padding.
