More than 14 tons of Oregon minced meat were recalled for possible E. coli contamination Thursday.
The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Interstate Meat Distributors Inc. recalled 28,356 pounds of minced meat products.
The meat was produced on December 20 and can be in stores in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
The recalled products from the Oregon company have the bears̵[ads1]7; establishment number “EST. 965” on the packaging.
E. coil can cause two to eight days of dehydration, bloody diarrhea and stomach cramps. In rare cases, exposure can lead to death.
The agency is concerned that the products are at home with consumers and advises people to check the packaging and dispose of products if necessary.
