On Thursday, the Bureau of Economic Analysis will release its preliminary estimate for first-quarter gross domestic product growth. It is expected to show a seasonally adjusted annual growth of 1[ads1].8%, after a 2.1% increase for the whole of 2022.
Other notable economic data coming out this week will include the Conference Board’s Consumer Confidence Index for April on Tuesday, the Census Bureau’s durable goods report for March on Wednesday, and the BEA’s personal income and spending for March on Friday.

Conference Board launches its Consumer Confidence Index for April. The consensus estimate is for a 104.1 reading, about even with the March data.
S&P CoreLogic releases its Case-Shiller National Home Price Index for February. The expectation is that house prices will remain at the same level from year to year. Early 2012 was the last time the index did not show an annual increase.

The Census Bureau releases the durable goods report for March. New orders for manufactured durable goods are expected to increase 0.7% month over month to a seasonally adjusted $270 billion.

Bureau of Economic Analysis releases its preliminary estimate for first-quarter gross domestic product growth. The consensus call is for GDP to have grown at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.8%, after an increase of 2.6% in the fourth quarter, and 2.1% for all of 2022.

This is reported by BEA personal income and expenditure for March. Revenue is estimated to increase by 0.2% month-on-month, while expenses fall by 0.1%. This compared with gains of 0.3% and 0.2% respectively in February. The core price index for personal consumption is expected to increase by 4.5% from the previous year, one tenth of a percentage point less than previously.
