MEXICO CITY ̵[ads1]1; Officials in North Mexico say a man accidentally caught himself in a hole he had dug so he could spy on his former boyfriend , contrary to an obstacle order.
The lawyer general secretary of the state of Sonora said on Sunday that the 50-year-old spent days digging the hole in Puerto Penasco, in the Gulf of California, just to get caught in and demand help to get out. The man had been ordered to stay away from his former boyfriend because of domestic violence. He is now in prison.
Violence against women is in Mexico's spotlight this week after a woman was hit by a car and crushed to death by her husband outside the governor's residence in the western part of Jalisco. That incident was captured on video.
