Meet Austin Goat, top-level Uber exec who joined as an intern
"For all your trainees, keep an eye on you," Austin Geidt tweeted on her five-year anniversary to work in Uber in 2015.
That's advice paid for Geidt. She joined Uber as an intern in 2010 – and on Friday she received the opening bell on the New York Stock Exchange ahead of the company's public debut.
Now, the leader of the strategy of Ubers Advanced Technologies Group, the company's autonomous vehicle unit, was honored for the ceremonial role that stood alongside CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.

Geid's rise is the Silicon Valley legend. She was the fourth employee at Uber and has filled several roles during her time with the company. She has been open about the fight against drug addiction and recovery, and has been sober since she was 20.
