Automaker General Motors undergoes drastic changes when they switch to electric vehicles.
This includes closing five factories in North America (four in the United States, one in Canada) and laying down thousands of workers.
GM is expected to cut 4000 salaries on Monday.
Investment strategy David Kudla, who works with many GM employees, broke the news on Thursday on Twitter.
From the plants that are closed, 14,000 workers are laid off.
This includes more than 2,000 workers in Michigan at Detroit-Hamtramck and Warren.
Employees of car dealers are also lost in shuffle.
Some economists predict for every job lost in a car factory, three positions are eliminated by vendors.
