Massive fight breaks out in Bensalem Golden Corral over alleged beef shortage – CBS Philly
A former employee of the restaurant says that he was told that the fight may have happened after a customer became furious when the buffet ran out of steak.
Video shared with Eyewitness News shows blows being thrown and high chairs flying while a fight breaks out inside the Golden Corral in Bensalem on Friday night.
Police in Bensalem confirm that the fight may have involved more than 40 people and happened after an argument among some customers. Officers are still looking into what caused the quarrel.
“I’ve never seen anything like it in Golden Corral before,” said former employee Dylan Becker.
Becker, who used to work at the Bensalem Golden Corral, says he was told by a current employee about the first quarrel.
“From what I heard, it was over beef, apparently there was someone queuing,” Becker said.
His friend heard the same details.
“There was a shortage of steak and two parties were involved and one family cut in front of another family, they took their time and they ran out of steak and there was a heated exchange at the tables,” said Gaven Lauletta.
In the video, a man is heard saying “all I wanted was a steak”.
Golden Corral would not respond to our email and asked if the lack of beef caused the melee.
But JK Hospitality, LLC, the franchisee of Golden Corral, wrote in a statement: “Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported. The safety of our guests and staff is our top priority.”
Meanwhile, people we showed the video to blame the customers.
“Well over that people would even do it in a public place when there are children around,” said one woman.
“Our society should be safe for families,” said one man.
‘No respect for anything. No respect for people or for people or property or anything, a woman said.
The police are working to find out who started the fight. This person can be charged with multiple charges, including single violence.
