It’s a corporate tongue-twister if there ever was one.

According to the Command Line newsletter, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg reportedly said he’s not a fan of all these layers of management.

“I don’t think you want a management structure that’s just managers managing managers, managing managers, managing managers, managing people doing the work,” Zuckerberg reportedly said during an internal Q&A session in late January, according to Command Line.

Earlier in January, the company’s product manager Chris Cox allegedly wrote a post on Meta’s communication platform Workplace about the need to “flatten out” the company’s organizational structure, Command Line reported.

Command Line’s writer Alex Heath believes it all means that “more redundancies are coming”.

In November 2022, Meta announced that it was laying off more than 11,000 people, in one of the largest job cuts in company history.

Meta is among a number of tech giants that have drastically reduced their workforce in recent months, such as Twitter, Amazon, Microsoft and Google. The mass layoffs have left many in the tech industry panicking, uncertain about the future of the industry.

Meta did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
