Mark Zuckerberg grilled Meta employees in a meeting

Mark Zuckerberg is questioned by Meta employees at a town hall meeting.

Employees at Meta confronted Mark Zuckerberg in an all-hands meeting on Friday after learning of the significant layoffs at their company, according to Washington Post.

As part of the company̵[ads1]7;s “Year of Efficiency,” Meta’s CEO revealed in a Facebook post on March 14 that it wants to fire another 10,000 workers and implement a new hiring freeze.

Washington Post, which obtained a transcript of the March 16 meeting, reported that Zuckerberg answered questions and made an effort to describe Meta’s restructuring and reorganization strategy.

Zuckerberg was asked a question about how employees are expected to trust the company’s leadership after two rounds of layoffs. He said he would expect to be evaluated based on the company’s performance and transparency about its mission, but that leaders should be allowed to change . their thinking,” the news agency reported.

“I would guess that the way people will judge whether you trust me and want to work at this company is whether we succeed in making progress toward the overall stated goals,” Zuckerberg said at the town hall. “I think a lot of this is about the results we’re able to deliver.”

A question about the company’s plans for remote work was also put to Zuckerberg. He said it could be “an ongoing conversation,” but he didn’t completely rule out the possibility of a return to office.

The psychological consequences of the layoffs for the company’s employees were raised by another employee. Mr. Zuckerberg acknowledged that the uncertainty that comes with disclosing layoff intentions in advance is real, but added that “it’s not like we can just pause work while we figure this out.”
