Mark Zuckerberg accepts Elon Musk’s Cage Match Challenge

Welcome to another episode of Billionaires Take Breaks from Ruining the World to Talk Shit Online: Mark Zuckerberg has accepted a challenge to a cage fight from Elon Musk.

On Tuesday, Twitter owner Musk responded to posts about Meta owner Zuckerberg grooming a rival to Musk’s social media site by saying, “I’m ready for a cage fight if he is.” Of course, Zuckerberg responded on Meta-owned Instagram, posting a screenshot of Musk’s tweet with the additional comment, “Send me location.”

The beef comes as Meta prepares its own text-based social media platform that product manager Chris Cox has teased as a “sensory-driven” alternative to Twitter. The company is said to be in talks with the likes of Oprah and the Dalai Lama to become early adopters of the platform.

While all of this may seem like immature posturing, Meta spokesperson Iska Saric told The Verge that Zuckerberg wasn̵[ads1]7;t joking about entering a match. “History speaks for itself,” he said. Musk has since responded suggests a fight in the Vegas Octagon.

It’s hard to imagine any of the billionaires with fighting skills, but Zuckerberg began training in Brazilian jiujitsu during the pandemic, competing in his first tournament last month. As for Musk, he has previously boasted about taking part in “real hardcore street fights” as a kid growing up in South Africa.

If the cage match happens, we hope it goes titanic bad for both of them.
