MADISON, Wis. – Madison officials plan to shift a 66-year-old city industrial building into an all-year community destination for fresh produce, culturally diverse and locally sourced food and crafted arts and crafts.
Guardians say that they have tried to create a public market for at least 14 years.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports that $ 13.2 million Madison Public Market may have up to 45 fixed dealers, as well as a revolving combination of pop-up and preliminary vendors.
The market will be located in the city's Fleet Services building on the East Side.
The city's MarketReady program has already supported 30 entrepreneurs selected from 83 applicants as they appear to launch or expand businesses on the market.
Market construction will begin in 2020.
