LOVELY recall of millions of Tyson chicken strips because they can have metal – Victor Valley News Group




WASHINGTON, May 4, 2019 – Tyson Foods recalls approx. 11,829,517 million pounds frozen, ready-to-eat chicken strip products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, especially metal pieces, the US Department of Agriculture FSIS announced today.

The frozen, finished chicken strips were produced on different dates from October 1, 2018 to March 8, 2019 and have "Use of dates" from October .1, 2019 through March 7, 2020. The map contains a list of products. which is subject to recall. [View LabelsĀ (PDF only)]

The products are subject to the recall of bear creation number "P-7221" on the back of the product package. These items were shipped to the retail and defense ministries nationwide, for institutional use nationwide and to the US Virgin Islands.

The problem was discovered when FSIS received two consumer complaints from foreign objects in the chicken strip products. FSIS is now aware of six complaints in this time frame involving similar pieces of metal with three proven oral injuries.

Anyone who is concerned about injury or illness should contact a health care professional.

FSIS is concerned that any product may be in consumer freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are encouraged not to consume them. These products must be disposed of or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS routinely conducts revocation efficiency checks to confirm company revocation notice about the recall and that precautions have been taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
