Long lines for buses, gridlock reported around the metro stations closed for the weekend
People go to Reagan National Airport and wait for hourly lines for T-bus bus service as the rain, holiday weekend and closure of two subway stations contribute to a nightmare Friday night commute.
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Crystal City stations along the blue and yellow lines are closed through Monday, with buses replacing trains between Pentagon City and Braddock, but riders share photos of large crowds waiting to get on these buses . At the airport, people travel from cars to terminals and ports to get on their flights on time.
They can not move much when they arrive on the buses, as larger grid blocks are reported in Crystal City and on the George Washington Parkway at the National Airport.
"The traffic is terrible and you know it's very bad when talking on the radio, and the news shows up," said a man trying to pick his brother up at the airport.
"I'll tell you about taking a cab and going the other way," he said.
Some travelers have decided to leave while people leave their luggage on GW Parkway.
"We had to wait for the elevator," said Elizabeth McDowell, who decided to go to the airport, pushing a baby in a stroller. "They did not let people up the escalators unless you got on the buses so they tried to do it, but I do not think this system worked so well. So I tried to get an uber. It was like $ 70. And I have to take a flight of an hour and 20 minutes, so I just started to head it, hoping to take a taxi. I have not caught a single. "
People who go to the airport can use a tunnel from Crystal City underneath train tracks to a ramp over GW Parkway.
"I know you have a lot of work going on, @Reagan_Airport, but this is a madness," said Twitter user @CGsquiggles.
He said he was told by Metro employees that the waiting time to ride a bus from the airport would be more than two hours.
"I'm a patient, but this is ridiculous. Maybe some rope and stanchion to create an actual line. #Wmata," said Twitter using @aej_dc.
"Finally came to National Airport and It. Chaos. Good luck to get a trip out in less than two hours. Will come back soon to all this. #Wmata, said Twitter user @ MSalt69.
Workers install new concrete cushion underlay, which means train can not move across the tracks, says WMATA.
Metro says that the work was relocated from November 2nd to November 5th to reduce the impact on commuter s.

@ wmata If this yellow / blue line closure is an indication of how you are going to handle next year's summer shutdown, you might want to consider it. The situation in Pentagon City right now is chaos. #PentagonCity #PentagonCity # WMATA pic.twitter.com/k0nkZtu68G

Not easy to see but this is a line for shuttles at Pentagon City to get on the shuttle buses in the direction of Braddock Road. Glad my flight is not for 8. @ JWPascale @wmata pic.twitter.com/DFIGvA02tC
