Lisa Cook wins Senate confirmation to Federal Reserve

The Senate voted to confirm Lisa Cook to the Federal Reserve, making her the first black woman to sit on the central bank’s board.

Cook was approved Tuesday in a party line vote, 51-50, with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the tie. Cook is the second Fed nominee for President Biden to win Senate confirmation, following the Fed Governor Lael Brainardwho was approved as the central bank’s deputy governor last month.
