Co-CEO and co-creator of Kiki’s Chicken Place has died after a week-long battle with COVID-19, according to a message on the restaurant’s website. Summer Gonzalez died early Friday, the statement said. She worked with her husband of 25 years, Santiago, to start the Sacramento restaurant and open various locations. “Even conjuring up these words in this announcement is incredibly heartbreaking as we understand what Summer’s impact is on her family, community and dear. ” The statement on the website reads.
