Jury in Elizabeth Holmes trial seizes two ‘smoking weapons’ to convict Theranos founder, says jury member
SAN JOSE, California – In their second week of discussions, jurors in the trial of Elizabeth Holmes seized what a juror described as two “smoking weapons” that sealed the fate of the Theranos Inc. founder.
Squeezed in a courtroom on the fifth floor, the four women and eight men fought over whether she had defrauded large Theranos investors about her start-up with blood tests. The jury members sat on two pieces of evidence they believed showed that Holmes deliberately lied to investors, said Susanna Stefanek, known during the trial as jury member no. 8.
