– Indian carrier Jet Airways (India) Ltd founder Naresh Goyal and wife Anita Goyal were stopped from leaving India on Saturday in Mumbai airport, according to an airport officer who asked not to be named.

The couple were taken into custody by immigrant officers, reported Indian Express, and sources of sources.

The airport official did not confirm that the couple had been arrested.

It was not immediately clear why the couple had been prevented from traveling, or whether it was related to reported regulatory probes in the airline.

It was not immediately possible to reach either Goyals or Jet for comment late on Saturday.

Local media said Goyals had traveled to Dubai for a connection to London.

Local media, referring to sources, reported earlier this month that the Ministry of Business Affairs had looked at Jet books and had requested company rating for the airline, and suspected that its promoters were sweeping funds.

Jet said when it had followed all the rules. The Goyals did not comment on the reports at that time.

Jet was once one of India's largest operators, and was forced to throw all the aircraft last month after playing out money and failing to secure funds, stunted by increasing losses as it attempted to compete with affordable rivals.

The bearer saddles with about $ 1.2 billion in bank debt, and Goyal and his wife resigned from the airline's regime in March in the midst of the crisis.
