Investors focus on earnings, Trump speech
U.S .. Stock index futures traded lower in the premarket Wednesday morning after President Donald Trump delivered his second state for the Union address.
At 6.00 ET, Dow Futures indicated a negative open of more than 70 points Futures for both S & P 500 and Nasdaq were also trading lower.
Markets focused Trump's address on Tuesday when he promised to build a wall that is the source of a deep partisan division, not giving Trump's claim to fund the barrier, leading to a 35-day partial government closure in December and January.
On the data front, Wednesday will see US trade deficit figures, productivity data, and unit cost costs at 8:30 am ET
Investors will also focus on a variety of corporate earnings: General Motors, GlaxoSmithKline, Softbank, Toyota, Spotify and New York Times Co. Chipotle Mexican Grill, FireEye, NewMarket, and Sonos are among the companies expected to report by the time
Federal Reserve's Jerome Powell is scheduled to speak in Washington, D. C., Wednesday night. The US Federal Reserve is expected to deliver opening remarks and answer monetary policy questions at a council assembly with teachers.
At the same time, the Federal Reserve's supervisory chair is expected to speak shortly after closing the clock. Randal Quarles, who oversees the nation's banking industry, is ready to comment on stress testing at a reception in New York.
