Intel on Thursday announced plans to build as many as eight factories in a single location in Ohio, a “mega fab” that CEO Pat Gelsinger said could one day become “the largest silicon production site on the planet.”
By spending $ 20 billion in Ohio initially, and as much as $ 100 billion over the next decade, Intel is building its new factory campus from scratch on farmland near Columbus. It positions the new complex to be the company’s most important production center.
