Ikea is planning a $2.2 billion expansion in the US, adding eight new stores

Ikea is planning a $2.2 billion U.S. expansion that will add eight stores and strengthen the furniture chain’s logistics network, a move that would be the retailer’s biggest U.S. expansion since the first store opened near Philadelphia 38 years ago.

Together with the new stores, the investment will establish nine “plan and order”[ads1]; points – smaller stores with a focus on customer service and furniture delivery – as well as 900 new collection points, according to a press release on Thursday. Staffing the new locations will add 2,000 jobs across the United States.
