Hymer and BASF made the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter a small luxurious home
Camper manufacturer Hymer and chemical company BASF have teamed up to create VisionVenture, a small camper built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis.
The term car-home was created as a preview of how travel could be in 2025, according to Hymer. The home uses modern technology to increase its self-sufficiency, including a solar panel-like solar cell system in the inflatable roof and paints that regulate the surface temperature and interior of the home.
"An important source of inspiration for this project was the motorhome community which has given us new impetus with its creative ideas and DIY conversions," Hymer President Christian Bauer said in a prepared statement.

Hymer uses many existing "tiny" concepts that make the compact Sprinter feel more spacious, according to the motorhome manufacturer.
For example, many items in the home are multi-use products, including a lamp that serves as a patio light, ceiling light, and an interior light pendant light. The staircase, which leads to the ceiling, acts as a storage unit, and the sink in the bathroom can be emptied to make room for the shower.
"We are confident that we will be able to introduce some elements from this range of innovative and extremely customer-friendly solutions in series production in the not too distant future," Bauer said.
