Hurricane Dorian Now Category 5, More Itinerary Changes – Cruise Industry News

  Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian was a Category 5 storm Sunday morning when it closed in the Bahamas, leading to several changes in the cruise line as important Florida ports are now closed.

Carnival

Carnival Horizon added to the quay on Saturday night to allow guests on board the opportunity to disembark, with the requirement that it leave again on Saturday.

Carnival's request to remain anchored in port through Sunday afternoon was rejected.

The port is expected to reopen as early as Monday or as late as Wednesday. Entry to cruise on the Horizon will be delayed, and the line said it plans to operate a shortened cruise on the day the ship returns to Miami. Given the shortened duration, guests can cancel and receive a 1

00% future cruise credit. Guests who choose to sail will receive a refunded cruise tour refund and pre-purchased beverage and Wi-Fi packages, along with a refund of canceled shore excursions.

Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean has been busy modifying a number of itineraries. A full list is available here.

Disney

Disney Dream's September 2 sail is now a two-night sail with an expected departure from Port Canaveral on Wednesday, September 4, and an expected return to Port Canaveral on Friday, September 6.

At this time, we expect Disney Dream to visit Disney Castaway Cay on Thursday, September 5, depending on whether it is affected by Hurricane Dorian.

Guests who choose to continue with this voyage will receive a 50% refund of the voyage and a credit on board of $ 250 per room.

Guests who do not want to sail on Wednesday should call Disney at 866-325-3905 or 407-566-7032 by Sunday, September 1. The guests will then have until 31 October 2019 to choose a new sailing date. They can change the reservation at a later date without having to incur a change fee, although there may be a price difference depending on the new sail selected.

MSC

MSC announced that Armonia will now depart on September 4 as opposed to September 2 and sail a five-day cruise, with calls to Cozumel and Costa Maya.

Guests who were originally booked on the September 2 MSC Armonia cruise and who choose to take the abridged cruise described above will be automatically reimbursed for 2 days of cruise. The amount for the two days will be refunded directly to their credit card. Alternatively, guests who are currently booked on cruises who choose not to sail can cancel and receive a full refund of their cruise fare without cancellation fee. The full amount will be refunded directly to your credit card and no penalty will apply.

Norwegian

Norwegian Breakaway's seven-day Caribbean cruise is being modified which was set to depart on September 1st.

She will no longer call Roatan, Honduras; Harvest Caye, Belize; nor does Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. Instead, she will sail a modified four-day itinerary, which will include a sailing date on Wednesday, September 4, pending approval from authorities and local port authorities. If confirmed, she will spend a day at sea September 5, call Cozumel, Mexico September 6, and remain at sea September 7 before returning to Miami, Florida September 8, as scheduled.
