Huawei launches its Android alternative, confirms Huawei's vice president
Rumors of Huawei's Android replacement OS came days after Huawei was barred from using US-based technologies, including Google and Qualcomm.
Admission that the company wants to remain in the Android family, and that the alternative operating system is not what the company wants, vice president of Huawei, Andrew Williamson said the company is currently launching Ark OS.
Huawei is in the process of potentially launching a replacement. It's not something Huawei wants. We are very happy to be part of the Android family, but Hongmeng is being tested, mainly in China.
The Minister of Science also revealed that Huawei archives trademarks around the world to protect the name and use of its operating system (via Pocketnow).
