China and the United States have agreed to turn down the volume of their trade war:
President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed on a cease-fire on trade that will remove some leveling at Huawei Technologies Co. buy high-tech equipment from the United States, currently lifting a cloud over global economy. During the ceasefire, the United States agreed to abolish additional tariffs on Chinese goods indefinitely. In response, China will start buying large quantities of American farm products, says Trump.
Someone helps me here. The limitations of Huawei were based on national security, right? Huawei networking products apparently have secret backdoors that allow the Chinese government to spy on us, and it's so secret that no one is willing to give any concrete evidence of this. But it is there! So died to Huawei.
But if that's the case, how can Huawei be a routine bargaining chip in a trade war? What's happening here?
