If you miss an important Thanksgiving ingredient or need a liter of milk, do not despair.
Some grocery stores, pharmacy chains and most large convenience stores will be open for last-minute errands on Thursday.
But shoppers, beware. More stores will be closed on Thanksgiving than in previous years, and the stores that are open will have reduced opening hours. Walmart and Target, which for years opened during the holiday season for Black Friday sales, are closed and reopen on Friday.
Due to state laws, stores in Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island will also be closed. Stores in some areas also have varied opening hours due to county or municipal laws.
Several restaurants are also closed on Thanksgiving. (See the list of who is open and who is closed here.)

If you are looking for cranberry sauce, you may have trouble finding it.
This holiday season, thanks to supply chain problems, many products are more difficult to stock, and some supermarkets do not have enough cranberry sauce.
Ahead of Thanksgiving, Publix, which is closed on Thursday, began restricting the purchase of canned cranberry sauce and some other products, including pot sauce and canned pie filling.
